Our 802 has a substantial 2" (5 cm) travel for horizontal alignment to known points. Precision roller bearings permit accurate translation of a precision plumbed instrument, minimizing the need for readjustment. Consider also the 802-3 compound lateral slide, which is constructed using two orthogonally-mounted 802 slides.
The 802-3 therefore has a full 2" of travel in both the X and Y directions. Both slides have a clear vertical aperture designed to allow plummet sightings. Both models have a standard external 3½"-8 instrument thread mount on top.
The 802-S slide is also available for when you need to mount to a fixture. The 802-S has a 5/8"-11 threaded hole in the middle of the dovetail for mounting. Note that while mounted, the 802-S does not allow for plummet sightings.
